You’ve probably heard like a million times that breakfast is the most important meal of the day…

BUT WHY??

Because you see, breakfast as its name suggests, breaks the fast from your last meal to your first meal… [but you probably knew that already], however how you break that fast has a huge impact in your metabolism; because how you decide to start your day will determine you hunger levels, your cravings and your satiety throughout the day…

THERE ARE 3 KEY INGREDIENTS TO MAINTAIN BALANCED HORMONES:

ONE: Make sure you always include protein, whether it is plant-based or animal based. Protein will provide the amino acids that your body needs to maintain lean muscles and a fast-working metabolism. It will also maintain a balanced blood sugar which is KEY for keeping you full for longer periods of time and for preventing fake cravings!

**A protein powder is handy to have in your pantry for the days that you are in a hurry or you simply aren’t that hungry. TWO: Include a healthy fat too. Healthy fats are extremely important not only for your brain but for a supple and youthful skin as well.

Good option to include: nuts and seeds [you can totally use this to your advantage if you are practicing seed cycling]; nut butters are great too, just make sure they are natural and preferably organic; avocado and coconut oil.

THREE: Don’t forget to include a whole grain or a fruit or veggie. You see fruits and veggies are high in fibre, which promotes a better digestion and high in antioxidants. Whole grains are high in fibre as well and they are packed with B vitamins which are crucial for a fast-working metabolism.

⁣⁣⁣However I totally get it… not everyone has time to make an avo toast with eggs every morning, that’s why this DETOX breakfast has become a staple for me and my clients, because it not only promotes a healthy and balanced hormones but you can prep it before hand and have it ready for the morning! And as I mentioned before, you can incorporate seed cycling!

DETOX BF RECIPE

Prep Time10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 30 g almonds
  • 20 g sunflower or pumpkin seeds (or a mix of both)
  • 1 apple cored
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  • Soak almonds & seeds with water and sea salt for at least 5 hours. I suggest doing this first thing in the morning.
  • Once ready or before going to bed, rinse them well.
  • Then blend all ingredients together [almonds, seeds, apple and cinnamon] with ½ to 1 cup of filtered water. It all depends on whether you like a lighter or a thicker consistency.
  • Store in the fridge overnight in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy next morning!
